Deborah Hawkins, penned Debra Renée Byrd, began writing after a blank book project in elementary school and never stopped, fashioning stories based on her favorite TV shows and movies before creating more original works. She studied at the University of the Arts and Florida State University before settling down and graduating from Temple University. She now resides in her hometown of Dover, DE, where she spends most of her time at work or at church. She loves fantasies, superheroes, is a trekkie and a brown coat. She loves television and lives for Final Fantasy video games, having collected most of them. She has read a myriad of authors, and her favorite authors change whenever she finds a new book that changes her life... "When you can't run, you crawl. The Holiday Hotel (Jack Taylor Cases) by C.N. Wynn

I just learned today that one of my best friends from high school will be published this May! I don't have too much information, but it appears to be Middle Grade Mystery. Pre-ordering begins April 27th, and the release date is May 10th. Below is the Facebook page, where you can see exclusive character illustrations.

About to "query" Tom Doherty & Assoc.

I'm extremely excited about this. Tom Doherty & Associates, LLC, published Mercedes Lackey/James Mallory's The Obsidian Trilogy and The Enduring Flame Trilogy, which I LOVED. I just recently began reading The Obsidian Trilogy, and the way these two write is so magical! It's a high fantasy, but the characters are so relatable, and I fell in love with them.

SO, I decided to look into the publishers, and they accept unsolicited works. I know that Save the Queen has that same feel as these trilogies and will fit in so well. I just hope Tom Doherty & Assocs. feel the same way, too. Revo Boulanger helped me with my synopsis, and I love him!!! :-D Monday, I send out my cover letter, my first 45 pgs (they asked for 3 chapters or the first 40-60), and my synopsis.

This is really happening!
