Friday Freeday: Reflections (A-to-Z)

Every time I think of the word, I hear the Mariah Carey song from Glitter. I loved that movie. Don't judge me. Some of you loved Twilight. :-P

(How are these cold openings working for you? How many know what a cold opening is? lol)

Anyway, FIRST OFF, I had 7 followers for this thing! You guys were great support. I didn't expect any because I never have time to really look at other blogs past the ones I follow, so that 7 people found their way to my page, thanks!

Secondly, I've already picked up the posts and put them into my new April blog, http://debmcksapril.blogspot.com. This is for when April rolls back around. You will find last year's Poetry-A-Day there, too.

So, for those who have read the A to Z posts and the few I put up here while April was happening, you know already that I could not WAIT for this thing to END. I couldn't just quit, so I fought my way to the finish. I think I actually only forgot to post one day, surprisingly.

So why did I start in the first place if I didn't like it? Because I wouldn't be me if I weren't impulsive. I decided on April 1, approximately 9am that I was going to do this. I didn't think for a second about doing it any day prior, and thinking my April wouldn't be as busy as it was, I thought I'd want to do it. By, like, G, I was wondering how long April would be. I hate when I half-ass posts because people actually come to see what you're saying. I'm also a rambler, so showing the world that, bluh.

But at least I finished. That's what I have to focus on. My goal was to get through it, and I did. I will most likely do poetry again next year, or if I change my mind (which I'm wont to do), I'll actually brainstorm a month in advance! So many people had great themes! We'll see what happens in 2014. ;)

Hehe, I can be a spur-of-the-moment type person too. Sometimes being impulsive can bring great rewards.

Congrats on the completion, I too write poetry, but find it great to be able to write a different one each day, though I did include a few from my books. See you next year.

Not familiar with the movie or song you mentioned, no clue what a cold opening is, though I have heard of Mairah, never cared for her or her type of music...it's age no doubt. I think the best part of the challenge is the visiting, the meeting and seeing what others do.

That's why I didn't do it. I can't blog everyday! Too crazy! But congrats on making it :)

I had a busy April outside of blogging, so I hear you on wanting it to end--when for months I was looking forward to it so much! Planning ahead is the only reason I finished.

Congratulate yourself :)

It can be overwhelming! This was my third year participating, and trust me when I say it gets waaay easier and more manageable after you've accomplished your first year. Next year write your posts ahead of time! Or at least choose what you're going to write for each letter. It goes way smoother then and all you really have to concern yourself with is commenting on other blogs!

Congrats on finishing the Challenge!!

Happy reading and writing! from Laura Marcella @ Wavy Lines

The A to Z challenge is a great idea - but it's a huge amount of work! I participated last year and had a blast but on the down side I didn't get in any writing time during the month. There were just so many people to respond to & I tried to check out a few new people each day. SO tiring!!! I didn't participate this year and while I missed the chaos and fun, I did get my writing done! :) Good for you for completing the challenge!

It's a beautiful song. The movie's about a girl whose mom was a singer but also an addict, and she gets taken away from her. She eventually grows up to become a singer but is always looking for her mom. It's set in the 80s.

A cold opening is a scene that takes place before the opening credits.

Thanks, Jemi! I hardly got around to visiting other people because my life was just as busy!

Well done on finishing! I too was looking forward to April ending, though I did enjoy participating in the A to Z. I just felt that this year I didn't have as much energy to do things as I really would have liked to.

Good job fighting your way through it, despite it not being your favorite thing in the world. Good luck with whatever you choose to do next year (be it brainstormed or impromptu).
