Deborah Hawkins, penned Debra Renée Byrd, began writing after a blank book project in elementary school and never stopped, fashioning stories based on her favorite TV shows and movies before creating more original works. She studied at the University of the Arts and Florida State University before settling down and graduating from Temple University. She now resides in her hometown of Dover, DE, where she spends most of her time at work or at church. She loves fantasies, superheroes, is a trekkie and a brown coat. She loves television and lives for Final Fantasy video games, having collected most of them. She has read a myriad of authors, and her favorite authors change whenever she finds a new book that changes her life... "When you can't run, you crawl. Friday Freeday

A very happy Friday to you all!

If you're a Twitter and a blogger, you're probably aware that Query Kombat is back. I haven't been on my writing-Twitter this much since...EVER! But I'm meeting and following new people and being social, which is always a step in the human direction.

I've thrown my baby into the ring yet again, and while it's hard to be completely confident when you're up against so many people, I have a good feeling about this year. :)

I also opened up a few of my WIPs to see what they were up to (as if they could write themselves), and I hope to touch at least one of them within the week. It's hard when the scenes aren't coming to me in order, but I've been doing well with making myself write those. The next step will be writing the scenes that make me uncomfortable, not because they don't belong, but because of strong emotions or moments that need to get put down on the...word document (I was going to say paper).

So I will keep you all posted on those, and I hope you have a great holiday weekend!
