Fast Five Friday: Romantic Films

Good morning.

I'm not particularly awake yet, but I have to work. Today, however, is Friday, and that means another installment of Fast Five! This bloghop was created by the Cover Girls, and you can visit their page for their favorite movies and the list to join if you like. You don't even have to post every week!

As Valentine's Day is tomorrow (sigh), they asked us to list our favorite romantic films. So away we go!

I plan on watching 3 of these tomorrow.

Express Yourself: Book Pairs

Happy Tuesday! Time for another question for the Express Yourself bloghop created by Dani @ Entertaining Interests and Jackie @ Bouquet of Books! You can join the weekly fun at either of their blogs.

This week, they ask us about some of our favorite book pairs, romantic, bffs, nemeses, etc.! That's not hard at all (sarcasm). lol

The first that comes to mind is Irene and Jonah from Terri Bruce's Hereafter and Thereafter.

Then, there is Victoria and Grant in Vanessa Diffenbaugh's The Language of Flowers.

Jake and Talulla in The Last Werewolf. (I would fan myself if it weren't so cold.)

Ed and Winry in The Fullmetal Alchemist series! They might be my favorite.

I could go on forever, so I won't. lol

The First Fast Five Friday!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Welcome to the first Fast Five Friday (I just wrote Fast Frive hahaha) of 2015! This bloghop was created by the Cover Girls (Dani & Jackie), and here is the link to their first Fast Five post.

This week, we are to pick our 5 favorite novels we read in 2014!

Crap, I thought this was going to be easy until I looked at the books I read! Geez. I can't even put them in a particular order because they were all so good and so different from one another! Oh well. lol Chronological order it is.

And my Fast Five Favorite Novels from 2014 are...

And I must do an honorable mention for Blindsided, also by Natalie Whipple. I didn't want to cheat and put a series, but I really loved both of these books and am still hoping she somehow thinks of a third plot. lol

Express Yourself: Favorite EYM

Welcome back to Express Yourself! This bloghop was created by Dani @ Entertaining Interests and Jackie @ Bouquet of Books. This is the last one of the year, so a big thank you to these ladies for coming up with so many questions for us!

This week, they ask what our favorite question was from the series this year.

(Side note: I've FAILED all my goals from the new year except for seeing The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey! Now I'm mad at myself.)

Let's see, my posts about Firefly or Final Fantasy...Decisions, decisions...Just kidding. lol I will have to say the 3rd week of August question: what we would bring back with us if we could go back in time.

Time travel is such an interesting concept, and it's one I actually use in my fantasy story. There's also the question of would things change, or would things still turn out the way they did. I always love those "What-If" episodes of tv shows. According to Friends & Grey's Anatomy, some things are meant to be. According to Futurama, you could turn out to be your own grandpa. hahaha

Have a Happy New Year!

Express Yourself: One Ring to Rule Them All

Good morning!

Welcome back to Express Yourself, created by Dani @ Entertaining Interests and Jackie @ Bouquet of Books. Each week they ask us a question, and we answer it to get to know each other better. :)

This week's question is to celebrate the release of The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies: Highlight ONE of our favorite characters from the Hobbit/LOTR series.

I had a crush on Faramir. Poor red-headed stepchild (though he wasn't, just the second born, so not the favorite). He was so sweet and just wanted his father's love. At least he got the girl in the end. I also wish someone had edited Return of the King, because that little part was left out, and it was important! I only learned it, though I speculated, by visiting a college neighbor who was watching the extended cut. A lot of things got left out of the final cut.

So there you have it. :D

Espresso Yourself Weekly

*giggle*

Welcome back to Express Yourself, created by Dani @ Entertaining Interests and Jackie @ Bouquet of Books to get to know their followers a little better.

This week, they ask: Coffee, tea, soda... what's your favorite beverage?

I was raised on coffee. My mom worked nights when I was little, so I've been an avid coffee drinker since I was about 5 years old. Every now and then, I try not to have any, but I'm not a morning person, so coffee helps. Lattes are my favorite type of coffee, and my favorite type of that is Velvet Noir Espresso with milk, to which I was introduced during my time working for Gevalia/Tassimo. Makes a wonderful latte. But I mainly drink caramel macchiatos/lattes, such as McDonald's Caramel Mocha, which I'm sipping on right now. hehe

Express Yourself: Favorite Things

Welcome back to Express Yourself! This weekly meme was created by Jackie @ Bouquet of Books and Dani @ Entertaining Interests to get to know their followers a little better.

This week, they ask about items that bring us comfort or hold special memories.

I feel like I answered this for something else, but I have a TY Beanie Baby frog named Smoochie. I bought him in the Philadelphia International Airport just before my field trip to Mexico when I was 14. I was very nervous, so I held him with me and often put him in a seat with his own seat belt if the one next to me was empty. I almost left him in our hotel, and freaked out, but fortunately, one of the other girls saw him and brought him to me. I took him on many trips after that as a good luck charm.

Oddly enough, I also had a stuffed doll with a music box inside of her that played "My Favorite Things." She was a raggedy-Ann type doll, with pink hair and pink clothes. Her head tilted from side to side as the song played. I started writing a horror story based on that doll. lol I wonder what ever happened to her.

Express Yourself: Treasured Toys

Happy July!

And welcome back to Express Yourself, brought to us by the dynamic duo Jackie @ Bouquet of Books and Dani @ Entertaining Interests. Join the fun at this link here.

The questions this month are very fitting for me, at least, because in 18 days, I turn 30! So I'm going to milk this month for all it's worth. ;)

This week's question is: Did you have a beloved toy growing up? What was it?

We moved from PA to DE in the middle of my 3rd grade year, and my best friend at the time (Brandy Cloud) bought me a teddy leopard. I still have him, actually.

I named him Remy leLeopard (X-Men was out that year lol), and I gave him a late night talk show called The Remy Show and still remember the theme song.

This is The Remy Show. Waaaaaahhhh!!!

I gave him this voice that sort of sounded like Bullwinkle's with a weird non-French accent (though now that I think about it, I think it was Cajun haha), and I used to make him shrug a lot. He has dents in his shoulders from how many times I did. I accidentally pulled his whiskers out (they came out through his mouth, which was weird). I slept with him every night at least through junior high school, and he now sits on my video game shelf with a slew of other stuffed animals I collected through my teenage years.

Friday Freeday & Express Yourself Meme

Happy Friday, everyone!

So, as I said before, I'm seeking Beta readers on Deviantart. Based on my first two interactions with Betas, a few people probably don't know the difference between a Beta reader and a proofreader. My first one asked if I could put my MS in an editable format, and the second asked if I wanted her to go chapter by chapter or not. I won't worry too much about it, just let them know the difference. I also need to double check on the first, because I haven't heard from him in a while, partially my fault. Remember to tell your betas when you're going on vacation. lol

The site to my main work task is locked today, so I guess I'll be reading blogs. lol

Express Yourself is back! This weekly bloghop helps Jackie @ Bouquet of Books and Dani @ Entertaining Interests get to know their followers with interesting and insightful questions. This week, they asked us to look at Page 89 of one of our favorite books and say what the 8th and 9th lines or sentences are.

Naturally, I chose Octavia Butler's Fledgling, as I'm currently in beta-mode for the tribute sequel I wrote to it. Here are the 8th and 9th sentence, awkward dialogue between Shori and her first bonded Wright:

"...But I haven't...I mean none of the others..."
"None of the others are bound to you yet."

Have a great weekend, and before you go, stop by the ladies's blogs and visit the other EYM participants!

Express Yourself: Characters Wanted

I stole that from USA Network. lol

Welcome back to Express Yourself, the weekly meme brought to us by Jackie @ Bouquet of Books and Dani @ Entertaining Interests.

This week, they ask us what our favorite character we've written or read is.

I have an archetype I've been using in my stories since I was a kid. I often attach the name Johnny to it, but it's been others, too. He's always a vulnerable, loveable guy who is slightly or extremely guarded because of some circumstance in his life. He's average height with shoulder-length brown hair and large brown eyes. He's had asthma, heart issues, mental health issues, and sight issues. lol I have NO idea why I always used this specific type to have these kind of problems. I'm trying to break away from him now.

One of my favorite characters I have read was Desi from Robert Olen Butler's short story "Help Me Find My Spaceman Lover" and his novel Mr. Spaceman. If you've seen Futurama, I have always pictured Desi looking and sounding like Kif but whiter. He was such an adorable character who falls in love with a lady he met while touching down at a Podunk (Wow, that gets capitalized? lol) Walmart parking lot. His mission: to tell the world there are aliens. They're both great stories.

Express Yourself: Favorite Subject

Welcome back to the Weekly Express Yourself Meme, brought to us by Dani @ Entertaining Interests and Jackie @ Bouquet of Books!

This week's question is: What was your favorite subject in High School and/or College?

The only reason I didn't drop out of school in High School was because of Chorus. I LOVED my chorus teacher. He was so scary when you were a Freshman, but by Senior year, he was your dad. Your crazy dad, but your dad. lol If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be as disciplined as I am now when it comes to music.

I didn't really have a favorite class in college. Maybe my History of Film class, since we really just watched movies all semester, but I fell asleep often. lol

Thanks for stopping by, and here is Dani's page to the Express Yourself Meme if you would like to join in!

Express Yourself: The Colors!!

Another permanent blog day? Maaaaybe. =D

I actually did one of these a while back and never latched on to do it permanently. So what better time than now? Express Yourself is hosted by Jackie at Bouquet of Books and Dani at Entertaining Interests, so click their links to stop by.

This week is your favorite color! I stumbled on this today random.org'ing blogs for yesterday's monthly IWSG bloghop, so stop by Laura's blog at My Baffling Brain to see her favorite color.

My favorite color is..... *drum roll*....

PINK!

Did you know already? My blog is roughly the color of Pepto Bismol. I know it's really girly, as my sister tells me all of the time, but I love it. Maybe because it does make me feel like a girl, or it helps me assert my girliness, I don't know.

I like most shades, except for hot pink. It's too Barbie, as much as I loved Barbies growing up. My favorite shades would have to be between this gorgeous dark blushy color and this pale hint-of-yellow color.

I have a dress this color. I love it. I can't help it.

So there you have it, my favorite color!
