Fast Five Friday

Happy Friday! Thursday was extremely long, and I wanted to break up with it.

Visit the Cover Girls' Fast Five Friday page to participate. Don't forget to link your post in a comment to them once they post!

Last Friday, they wanted us to list 5 things we're looking forward to in the Fall. Fall's my favorite season, so this should be easy.

1. Cooler weather
2. Pretty leaves all changing color
3. Bonfires
4. S'mores
5. More reasons to drink lattes

Today, they want to know what 5 books we want to see turned into TV shows or movies.

Let me preface this by saying that the first Octavia Butler book I ever read, Dawn, is coming to TV! I'm so excited! Read about it here.

Warning: My list only contains 3 authors. lol

1. Graceling/Fire (movie)
2. Bitterblue (tv)
3. The Inheritance Trilogy (tv, so it can go on and on)
4. A Deep Green Sea (movie)
5. Mr. Spaceman (either, as long as the creators of Futurama do it lol)

What about you? I know some people get mad when Summer's gone, but do you like anything about Autumn? And how about books you'd like to see as movies or tv shows?

Friday Hops: Movies and Music

Speaking of hops, has anyone else had the Not Your Father's Rootbeer??? Oh. My. Goodness.

Happy Friday! Today, I bring you my Fast Five, created by the Cover Girls, Dani and Jackie, and Express Yourself Weekly, also created by the Cover Girls, kind of. lol

Fast Five Friday invites you to give 5 quick answers to whatever question that have for the week. This week they ask us to name 5 action packed movies. Easy for me! I love action movies.

1. Lethal Weapon
2. Die Hard
3. Star Trek: Into Darkness
4. The Fast and the Furious
5. The Matrix

Now, I'm not sure if we still sign up for this one, but they have the questions, so I'm gonna answer them! This week, they asked, "What song makes you want to dance as soon as you hear it?"

Hm...I'd have to say any song with a salsa beat. If I hear one, I typically go, "Eyyy!" and bust a move or two.

THREE DAYS left before Pitch Wars opens up. Are you excited?? What about those questions up there? Love a good action movie? Love to dance? :)

Fast Five Friday: Movie Crushes

Alright, alright, alright (in my Matthew McConaughey voice), Happy Friday!! Welcome back to an installment of Fast Five Friday, brought to us by Dani and Jackie, the Cover Girls!

This week, we have shooting off our five favorite movie crushes! Let's see if I can stop at five. lol (After looking) Okay, FINDING five was actually hard. I was like, "What movies have I watched?"

Well, there's the Prince from Beauty & The Beast. lol Hey, even my mom was like, "Wow."

The sexy Michael Corvin from the Underworld series.

Capt. James T. Kirk time-warped world style from Star Trek. (Mainly because, well, Chris Pine.)

Louie from Interview with the Vampire. (Mainly because, I mean, BRAD!)

Jacob Palmer from Crazy, Stupid Love.

BONUS info: My cousin has a serious crush on Optimus Prime. hahahaha

Express Yourself: Your Life's Narrator

Welcome back to Express Yourself! This meme was created by Dani @ Entertaining Interests and Jackie @ Bouquet of Books to get to know us all You can join us through either of their blogs.

Last year, Dani & Jackie opened the Express Yourself question query to us members of the hop, and as I was reading the guest questions so far this year, I thought, "Man, why didn't I ask a question?"

Apparently I did. haha It's the question this week, and it is: "Who would narrate your life in a movie?"

I feel like either Aubrey Plaza, who has that lazed, Delawarean disinterested voice I think I have in my head, or one of my icons, Zoe Saldana, who has that great husky, deep voice I think I have in real life but don't would be two great choices for my biopic.

What about you?

Express Yourself: Apocalypse Now?

Happy Tuesday!

Welcome back to Express Yourself, a bloghop created by Dani @ Entertaining Interests and Jackie @ Bouquet of Books to share things about ourselves with each other. You can join the fun at either of their pages.

This week, they ask us: What is your favorite kind of apocalyptic scenario (natural disaster, zombie, alien invasion, etc.)?

This is an interesting question for me. Back before I turned 18 (had I known about the show I'm about to mention), I would have said the one where kids were left to rule the world. Being an adult now, that means I, too, would have died, soooo. The Tribe is no longer an ideal apocalyptic scenario for me.

I don't do anybody's zombie, so I suppose natural disaster would be the next best bet for me. I could survive at least a flood, I'd like to think.

Fast Five Friday: Romantic Films

Good morning.

I'm not particularly awake yet, but I have to work. Today, however, is Friday, and that means another installment of Fast Five! This bloghop was created by the Cover Girls, and you can visit their page for their favorite movies and the list to join if you like. You don't even have to post every week!

As Valentine's Day is tomorrow (sigh), they asked us to list our favorite romantic films. So away we go!

I plan on watching 3 of these tomorrow.

Express Yourself Weekly: Movies of 2014

I am so not awake, but good morning.

Welcome back to Express Yourself! This bloghop was created by Dani @ Entertaining Interests and Jackie @ Bouquet of Books to help us all get to know each other a little more.

This week's question is: What is your favorite movie you saw in 2014?

We (my sister, cousin and friends) sat down and watched The Hunger Games: Catching Fire finally, and oh my God, was it everything! I can't believe they made them go back into that place. Peeta was a lot more attractive in this one, too, but Gale...Ahhh, those Hemsworth boys! The moment Katniss woke up, and he said, "Hey, Catnip," I swooned.

Anyway, I hope to see Mockingjay Pt. 1 before the 2nd part comes out. I hope it's in Redbox finally. Maybe we can watch it this weekend.

Express Yourself: One Ring to Rule Them All

Good morning!

Welcome back to Express Yourself, created by Dani @ Entertaining Interests and Jackie @ Bouquet of Books. Each week they ask us a question, and we answer it to get to know each other better. :)

This week's question is to celebrate the release of The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies: Highlight ONE of our favorite characters from the Hobbit/LOTR series.

I had a crush on Faramir. Poor red-headed stepchild (though he wasn't, just the second born, so not the favorite). He was so sweet and just wanted his father's love. At least he got the girl in the end. I also wish someone had edited Return of the King, because that little part was left out, and it was important! I only learned it, though I speculated, by visiting a college neighbor who was watching the extended cut. A lot of things got left out of the final cut.

So there you have it. :D

Express Yourself Weekly: It's December!

This year has flown by. But the first Tuesday in December also means the first Express Yourself! This meme is hosted by Dani @ Entertaining Interests and Jackie @ Bouquet of Books. You can also join the list to answer their weekly questions!

This week, they ask what holiday movie/book/show we are looking forward to this season.

Ever since I was little, I watched "The Nutcracker" on PBS. I don't think they show it anymore, so I would like to actually leave my house to see it this year! Home Alone is also a favorite of mine around this time, so bring on the laughs, and keep the change, you filthy animal!

Express Yourself: Scary Stuff

Good day to you all!

Express Yourself is a meme created by Dani @ Entertaining Interests and Jackie @ Bouquet of Books with weekly questions participants can answer.

This week, they ask us: What is the scariest movie/book you have seen/read, or that you want to see/read?

I have been trying to prepare myself to see Insidious 2, but I don't think it's going to happen. lol This past year, my cousin decided she wanted to try to watch scary movies, and one of them was The Caller, a creepy movie about a woman calling from the past to the house where she had killed her husband. It started pretty slowly but ended up messing our minds completely up. lol

Friday Freeday: Writer Because of TV?

Happy Friday!

SO, as I was reading another lady's blog for Express Yourself (Melissa over at My Creatively Random Life), I realized something.

Most writers say, "I read this, and I knew then that I wanted to be a writer."

As some of you know, the first real story I started writing was about mutants living in a school. Why? Because I was watching X-Men. I'm almost sure this isn't normal, and nowadays, I think that I probably should've stayed in Writing for Film/TV, because even though books make me want to write, my first passion happened because of a tv show. Also, still to this day, I'll watch something and think to myself, "I can't wait to have my own movie!"

I love acting out scenes to myself (which if anyone walked in on me throwing myself on the floor and crying for no real reason, I'd be thrown on the altar), and I still really want to be published. I also want very much to have a small screen or big screen notch on my belt.

I really hope both happen.

Express Yourself Weekly: Movie Me

Happy Tuesday!

Welcome back to Express Yourself, a meme created by Jackie @ Bouquet of Books and Dani @ Entertaining Interests, where they ask their followers questions to get to know us better!

This week, they ask us who we would want to play us in a movie.

Has an actress even been born yet to play me?! Oh, wait, yes, I can think of some. lol

I think (God, I'm going to butcher her name. Let me Google this.) Quvenzhané Wallis could do a great version of my 50% subdued 50% manic person. She seems like a feisty thing.

I might even like to see Amandla Sternberg (what's with these names lol) challenge herself to do it. The two movies where I've seen her, she's been a quiet, reserved soul. It would be nice to see her break out into all that is me.

And if ever there's a jump in time, I think Angela Bassett could play me very well. lol

What about you all?

Express Yourself: Scary Movies

Welcome back to Express Yourself! This weekly meme is brought to us by Dani @ Entertaining Interests and Jackie @ Bouquet of Books, fun questions to answer weekly. This week they ask us what was the scariest movie we've seen or book we've read that made us unable to sleep.

Hands down, only one movie has terrified me into insomnia (and all the scary movies I've seen, that's saying a lot), and it was Orphan. For most of the movie, you KNOW something is wrong with this little girl, and when it's finally revealed...It messed me up. lol I was praying for most of the night to have good dreams.

If you haven't seen it and want to, I recommend it. It's an awesome movie.

Stop by the ladies' sites to find the list of other participants, and visit them throughout the week to see what they have to say.

Express Yourself: With Special Guest...YOU!

Welcome back to Express Yourself Tuesday! This meme is brought to us by Dani @ Entertaining Interests and Jackie @ Bouquet of Books, and this week they ask us: If we could be ourselves in any tv or movie, what would it be, and what could we bring to the table?

This is a very fun question.

I think I wouldn't mind being in Daria, as the new girl who's socially inept and awkward. Daria would get a kick out of that. lol

I have been told I am the girl in the horror movie who you think died halfway through but comes back in the end to save the day, so if there were a Scream 5, knowing that I live, I'd be okay with being in it.

Express Yourself x2

Good morning!

I missed last week's Express Yourself, so I decided to answer both! Welcome back Jackie @ Bouquet of Books and Dani @ Entertaining Interests to the new year!

Last week's question was: What books are we looking forward to reading in 2014?

I'm reading a complete collection of Poe's works on my E-reader. I plan to read some more classics this year. I have a lot on my Goodreads list. I do want to read Transparent by Natalie Whipple, though. The sample I read was SO good!

This week's question is: What movies do we plan on seeing in 2014?

Definitely X-Men: Days of Future Past. Obviously. *wink*

And The Hobbit: There and Back Again. This has been an EPIC trilogy so far, and I can't wait to see how it ends, even though I know how it's technically going to end.

I don't know what other movies come out this year...So have a good day! lol

Express Yourself: Christmas Movies!

Welcome to a special Saturday edition of Express Yourself! This is a meme hosted by the dynamic duo Dani @ Entertaining Interests and Jackie @ Bouquet of Books.

This week they ask what Christmas films we plan on watching this year.

I plan to watch The Snowman, a classic for me that used to feel like a feature-length film but is only about 30 minutes long. I also plan on finding what channel is showing How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the cartoon version. And, the biggest tradition and chore will be searching out one of the old A Christmas Carol movies. I don't want to see Vanessa Williams's version, and I will always settle for Patrick Stewart's, BUT I want to see one of the black & whites!

Favorite Halloween TV Episodes

Happy Halloween (almost)!

I thought I would do this since I don't have an EYM to do. As you probably know by now, I love TV shows and movies, and if I had the money, I'd go back to UArts and finish my Writing for Film/TV Major because I'm a screenwriter at heart (which is terrible as someone trying to be an author!). And as you know, there are many TV shows who pull out a Halloween episode around this time of year, so what are some of my favorites?Well, my first two aren't even TV series, but I love to watch them (even though I haven't seen them in a few years now. *sniff*)

Disney's Hocus Pocus. Now, this is a cult 80s kid classic starring a kid whose name I never learned, Bette Midler, some girl that kind of looks like Hilary Swank but isn't, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Nijimy, and a young (and annoying) Thora Birch. Also, if you watch NCIS, a young McGee as Thackery Binx. lol For those who live under a rock, it's the tale of the Sanderson Sisters resurrected by a virgin who lit the Black Flame Candle, and they need the essence of a child to become immortal. It's cheesy, and I love it. It comes on every year on ABC Family, and I just missed it on Sunday. Grrr.

Michael Jackson's "Ghosts". Yes, MJJ actually made another Halloween short film. I like "Thriller," but "Ghosts" is scary in a creep-you-out way. It's about some townspeople trying to throw the local weirdo out of town for scaring their kids, and what ensues is a bunch of dancing ghosts with some awesome music. Then some really freaky crap and it ends. lol

Martin: "The Night He Came Home". Martin was one of the shows I was allowed to watch as a child for some reason. I couldn't listen to Janet Jackson, but I could watch Martin...Anyway, in the first season, they had a ghost story episode where they tried to scare Martin with the tale of Old Man Ackerman. They tried to Ouija him into the apartment, and for a while, you think they did, with things flying through the air, Tommy getting possessed, then everyone disappearing, all to find out, Martin's friends pranked him...Then, as it's just him and Gina relaxing, Old Man Ackerman walks through the house and turns off the lights. Scary stuff!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: "Halloween" I vow to finish this series one day, but in the early years, there was the episode of Buffy where everyone became their costumes during Halloween (Oddly enough, Fairly Oddparents did a similar episode). I don't remember much about it (I remember Xander was a soldier, but had to wiki that Buffy was a noblewoman. I just remember she was funny) but I do remember Willow being a ghost because of the awesome scene where Giles is reading, and she walks through the wall and scares the crap out of him.

Those are just a few of my faves, but I don't want to bore you guys. Share some of your favorite Halloweeny episodes with me!

Express Yourself: Character Personality

Happy Tuesday!

I'm back as always with the weekly Express Yourself topic provided by Jackie @ Bouquet of Books and Dani @ Entertaining Interests. This week's question is "What movie character's personality it yours to a tee?"

I think I've talked about this a few times now, but Amelie Poulain's character fits me frighteningly well. She's a very imaginative young woman who lives a fairly mundane life with a mix of people she likes or dislikes. She's kind of lonely and enjoys simple pleasures like sticking her hands in a bag of lentils and roaming gnomes. And when Nino Quimcampoix comes into her life, she's determined to be in love with him without confronting him.

It's a wonderful movie that everyone should watch and fall in love with. Do it. DO IT. ;)

Anyway, I related to Amelie so much that I wrote a poem in Spanish (I can't speak French, so Spanish was the next best option in my mind).

Express Yourself: Childhood Movie and/or Book

Welcome back to Express Yourself!

This weekly meme is brought to us by Dani @ Entertaining Interests and Jackie @ Bouquet of Books. This week's question is about our favorite childhood movie and/or book.

I had a huge exposure to both mediums as a child, which is probably why I loved my Writing for Film/TV classes. So, this is an easy one for me.

My favorite childhood movie is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, for obvious reasons.

My favorite childhood book is a book of poems called Something Big Has Been Here by Jack Prelutsky. They were quirky and fun to learn.

Thanks for stopping by! Visit the other participants through Dani and Jackie's blogs. :)

Express Yourself: Alternate Worlds

Good morning! Welcome back to Express Yourself, brought to us by Jackie @ Bouquet of Books and Dani @ Entertaining Interests.

This week's question is: In what book/movie world would you like to live in?

I'm not particularly sure, to be honest. I wouldn't mind living in the Marvel world, as long as I got to have a cool super power and could touch people without killing them.

I think living in Joss Whedon's Serenity/Firefly 'verse would be kinda shiny. And maybe I'd get to meet Malcolm Reynolds. =D

And on technicality, thanks to Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children, I'd like to live on one of the Final Fantasy worlds, as long as some catastrophe doesn't kill me in the process.

Visit Dani & Jackie's blogs for a list of all the Expressors!
